Celebrate Canada day in Waterloo Region

I was wondering what to do and where to go to join Canada Day celebrations in my area. That is the wonderful Waterloo Region of Ontario – area where there is always something interesting going on.

In Kitchener :

Woodside National ParkIf you have not visited Woodside National Park, plan to do so this Canada Day. Beautiful setting, relaxing and fun atmosphere and always something interesting to learn about. You can celebrate by enjoying red and white cupcakes, play on over-sized checkerboard, try your skills at croquet and for sure – plan to tour the historic home. Absolutely perfect to bring children as well! Click on the headline or the picture to get more information.

Waterloo Region Museum

Great party is being planned at the gateway to Doon Heritage Village  – free admission will get you musical entertainment, lets you try just good you can be at games like horseshoes and you can bring your own picnic or enjoy tasty barbecue that will be offered. Great for all ages – from children to grandparents!

Canada Day at the Joseph Schneider House

You will be able to enjoy wagon rides, outdoor activities, refreshments and more when you visit The Joseph Schneider House on Queen Street in Kitchener. Admission is free and you can visit from 10 am to 5 pm.

In Waterloo:

Columbia Lake Fireworks

You really have to plan to see the now famous fireworks at the Columbia Lake in Waterloo. University of Waterloo Federation of Students puts on a awesome show – but that’s not all. The event celebrating Canada Day starts at 2:00 pm and ends with the spectacular fireworks display. Check out their website for regular updates and more information

Waterloo Public Square

The City of Waterloo has a great showplace with lots of activities through the month of July. The Waterloo Public Square (you may know it better by the Waterloo Town Square) has live concerts, arts programs, sorts events and festivals. Here is an update on what is happening and when:

I.R.I.S. Anniversary Concerts -Saturday,  July 2 – 7-9 pm

Sunset Drumming Circle – Sunday, July 3 – 7-9 pm

KIA Kids Tennis Fair – Monday, July 4 – 11:30 am – 2 pm

Kitchener-Waterloo Turkish Festival – Saturday and Sunday, July 9 & 10 – 10 am – 7 pm

In Cambridge:

Cambridge is going to celebrate Canada Day in  big way! There is so much to do, you will have a hard time figuring out what to go see first. To start with – Cambridge has a Canada day Parade!

Cambridge has Fireworks!

You can enjoy great entertainment and a beer tent that will be opened from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

 

Here is the schedule of Cambridge events for you to consider:

Fishing Derby – 8am-12pm

Children’s Center – 2pm-6pm

Exotic Petting Zoo – 12pm-8pm

Fireworks Show – 9:30pm

Conklin Midway – 12pm-11pm

Game Asylum – 3pm-11pm

The Grand River Conservation Authority

And here is a great idea for you to celebrate this year’s Canada Day: The Grand River Conservation Authority has a photo contest for hutter bugs capturing beauty of Grand River watershed or activities of family and friends in the outdoors.
