I think this is an important thing to know about and be aware of – as Valentine’s Day approaches, so does the season of related scams. Those pesky malware people are notorious for exploiting events and holidays, so it good to know what to watch for.
Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays for people to send and receive e-mails and e-mail cards. And those happen to be the favourite ways for the bad guys to get into your computer system.
DO – be vary of any any Valentines Day e-cards or special offers that show up in your inbox. The messages may look legitimate but can easily infect your computer with malware. And never, never divulge your personal information!
DO NOT – open unsolicited emails or click on links in received messages – unless you know where it came from. And that includes messages that are forwarded to you from someone you know – but the original email came from a person you do not know. The message may have a subject you get curious about, but resist the temptation and you won’t be risking anything.
DO – think and trust your instincts and do some investigation if you have a suspicion that what you are receiving may be something other than innocent message. So – remember that Valentines Day  is a day not only for  gifts of flowers and nice gifts – it is also a day for scams.
