This is an amazing recipe that will be a welcomed addition to any meal! I love serving it with grilled ribs or pork roast. This homemade coleslaw recipe will give you enough coleslaw to feed a large gathering if you are entertaining – if you need to make it for your family only, cut the recipe in a half or a quarter of the listed quantities. Try it and see if it isn’t the best coleslaw you’ve ever made!
Old Fashioned Homemade Coleslaw:
1/4 cup of prepared mustard
3/4 cup of cider vinegar
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/2 cup of ketchup
1/4 cup of mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
1-1/4 cups of sugar
2 medium heads of cabbage (about 4 lbs.) ,shredded
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 large carrot, shredded
1 celery rib, finely chopped
6-8 radishes, chopped into small pieces
- For dressing, in a bowl, combine the mustard, vinegar, sour cream, ketchup, mayonnaise, salt and cayenne pepper, Stir in the sugar.
- In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, onion, green pepper, carrot and celery.
- Add desired amount of dressing and toss until well coated. Refrigerate until serving and also refrigerate any leftovers.
