First day of school can be quite stressful – for the child and for parents. Especially if we are talking about a younger child changing schools. Here are a few simple tips that are easy to follow and will for sure help to avoid uncomfortable and stressful situations:

  1. If the school is new to your child, make arrangements to take a tour before the school starts
  2. Meet the child’s teacher – if you can’t do it in person, schedule at least a telephone conversation
  3. If your child has any medical conditions – and that includes allergies, finalize them with the school nurse
  4. The night before first day of school pack your child’s backback with his help – then there are no questions locating important items
  5. Put your child to bed early the day before school – if he or she has a tendency to be anxious and stress, fatigue will aggravate the situation
  6. On the first day of school make sure your child wakes up early enough to allow plenty of time to get ready and have a good breakfast
  7. Pack a nutritious lunch and sneak in a little love note – especially for the younger child
  8. You may want to consider driving your child to school for the first day – even if plan is to use alternative transportation later
  9. Walk into the classroom with the younger child, gtreet the teacher and introduce your child and yourself
  10. Remind your child what time you will be back to pick him or her up
  11. If there are other parents present, introduce yourself to them
  12. And whatever you do – do not be late!

I keep watching that commercial on TV where back to school time is positioned as the most wonderful time of the year. It is creative and funny – I am just not sure who is really laughing, other than potentially the retailers. But – it can be the most wonderful time, kids are usually (I think) excited about going back to school.  Parents? Not so much….Probably all seing their bank balances shrinking, credit card balances going up and nerves being strung quite tight. Consider what is important here and communicate it to your children. Easier said than done? Here are a few tips that I hope will be of assistance in your back to school survival:

Involve Your Kids:

If you do that, there will be less of a chance that they will put up a fight for things that you have not put into your budget. Another thing that will be eliminated is you potentially purchasing items they will refuse to wear or use.

Make an Inventory:

Check out all your closets and search through your house for last year’s leftovers. You may have stashed some items and forgotten about them as well – don’t we all do that sometimes?

Make a List:

Decide on what needs to be purchased immediately. That means talking to your kids about what is really needed right now and what can be purchased later – potentially when sales pop up for the after back to school rush. Explain to them that they will be able to get better and more of what they are asking for if they are just a little more patient.

Set Your Budget:

Know what you can afford, making sure that you are not paying off your credit card bills until Christmas (only so that you can start loading up charges all over again) Again – involve your kids in this process, because their understanding of what is and what isn’t in the budget will help you when shopping with them.

Shop Around:

You will want to keep an eye on flyers – especially when it comes to school supplies. While bulk stores may have better overall prices, some items can actually be much cheaper when you look at office supply stores loss leaders – they are aimed at getting shoppers into the store so you could realize some serious savings.

Check Out Clearance Racks:

Seasons come and go and if you are planning ahead, you can take the opportunity to save a lot of money. Summer T-shirts for example – they will for sure be on sale and all you have to do is to consider that they can be layered with other clothing to create new look each time.

Remember that most children have not outgrown all of their clothing and used or lost all their schools supplies since last school year so don’t start shopping as if they did!

Hope these simple tips will help you deal with that wonderful time of the year – please send in your comments, suggestions and experiences, your input is always welcomed and very much appreciated

You cell phone service doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg each month – understanding what your service provider has to offer and what suits best your needs is the key. Review your existing plan, compare to other providers, make some notes and ask some questions, You will be surprised at the substantial savings you can realize. Check your bill carefully to see what extras you are paying for. This could be things like phone replacement insurance, road assistance, ringtone downloads, games, video streaming, emails, web surfing – there are tons of cell phone extras that can end up costing you a lot of money. Everybody can use a helping hand in the kitchen once in a while! I have been collecting tips and hints and I do hope you will enjoy finding out just how much simpler your cooking tasks can be!

  1. To peel thin skin fruits and vegetables easily, place in a bowl and cover with boiling water, let stand for one minute then peel with sharp paring knife.
  2. For an easy dressing for fruit salad, try a grated orange rind and orange juice added to sour cream.
  3. Cream won’t curdle when pour over fruits if you add a pinch of baking soda with the cream before serving.
  4. If you add a small pat of butter when cooking fruit for jams and jellies, you won’t have any foam to skim off the top.
  5. If you have a problem with fruit jellies not setting, place the jars in a shallow pan half filled with cold water, then bake in moderate oven for 30 minutes.
  6. For attractive individual butter servings, squeeze butter through a pastry bag or plastic beg onto a cookie sheet, set in refrigerator to harden.
  7. To keep your pizza crust crispy, try placing the cheese on before the sauce.
  8. To save leftover wines, freeze them in ice cube trays. They can be used for any dish you would season with wine or can be also used in coolers.
  9. Cottage cheese can be used in place of sour cream when making dips. Just place it in the blender until it is creamed.
  10. Cream cheese can be coloured with liquid food colouring as a filler for dainty rolled sandwiches. Try a different colour for each layer and slice as you would a jelly roll.
  11. Freeze red and green maraschino cherries in ice cubes. You can also do this with cocktail onions, mint leaves or green olives for martinis.
  12. French fries will be deliciously golden brown is sprinkled with flour before frying.
  13. To bake the perfect potato, rub butter over potatoes before baking to prevent skin from cracking and to improve the taste.
  14. For the best gourmet French fries, let cut potatoes stand in cold water an hour before frying. Dry well before cooking. The trick is to fry them twice. The first time, just fry them for a few minutes and drain off the grease. The second time, fry them until golden brown.
  15. To tell how old an egg is, place the egg in a pan of cold water. If it lies on its side, it is fresh – if it tilts on an angle,, its approximately 3-4 days old – if an egg stands upright, it is probably about 10 days old. It an egg floats to the top, it is old and should not be used.
  16. To easily separate an egg yolk from whites, poke a small hole in the end of an egg and drain the white through the hole. After you have drained the egg white, just crack the egg open for the yolk.
  17. To tell if the egg is hard boiled or raw, place the egg on it’s side and spin it evenly on a level surface. If it wobbles – it is raw.
  18. When you poach eggs, try adding a little vinegar and salt to the water. This will set the eggs and keep them in shape.
  19. When beating egg whites, add a teaspoon of cold water and you will almost double the quantity.
  20. Add food colouring to the water before boiling eggs, then you can tell the hard boiled ones from the fresh ones.
  21. To keep egg yolks centered while cooking hard boiled eggs – stir the water while cooking.
  22. When handling eggs or removing them from the carton, try wetting your hands first and the eggs won’t slip away.
  23. Hard boiled eggs will slice better if you wet the knife in water before cutting.
  24. To test whether hot oil is still usable, drop a piece of white bread into the pot. If the bread develops dark specks, the oil is deteriorating.
  25. Fat from soup and stews can be eliminated by dropping ice cubes into the pot. Then stir and the fat will cling to the ice cubes. Remove the ice cubes after a few seconds.
  26. When you are broiling meats, place a few pieces of dried bread in the broiler pan to soak up the dripping fat. This will eliminate the smoking fat and it also reduces the risk of the fat catching fire.
  27. Butter will go farther and have fewer calories per serving if you beat it well. This increases the volume by adding air.
  28. Cottage cheese will remain fresher for longer period of time if you store it upside down in the refrigerator.
  29. To keep cheese longer without it forming mould, place a piece of paper towel that has been dampened with white vinegar in the bottom of plastic container hat has a good seal before adding cheese.
  30. Another way to prevent mould form forming on cheese is to store it in a sealed container with two lumps of sugar.
  31. A dull knife works better to cut cheese. Warm the knife and the cheese will cut like butter.
  32. Tomatoes added to roasts will help tenderize them naturally. They contain an acid that works well to break down meats.
  33. To eliminate bacon curling, try soaking in it cold water for about 2 minutes before frying. Dry well with paper towel. If they still curl, sprinkle them with flour. And if they still insist on curling, poke some hole in them.
  34. If you scorch meats, soak it in a towel in hot water and wring out as best as possible. Cover the meat and let it stand for about 5 minutes before scraping off burned area with a knife.

  38. Placing meats in white vinegar and water for about 5 minutes before cooking will make them more tender.
  39. To reduce shrinkage in sausages, they should be boiled for 3-5 minutes before frying.
  40. For a too-salty ham, partially bake it and drain all juices. Pour a small bottle of ginger ale all over it and bake til done.
  41. When re-heating meats, try placing the pieces in a casserole dish with lettuce leaves between the slices – they will then be tender and moist.
  42. To keep poultry from sticking to the bottom of pan, try placing few stalks of celery in the bottom to act as a rack. This will add flavour and moisture as well when cooking.
  43. To keep meatballs from falling apart when cooking, try placing them into the refrigerator for 20 minutes before cooking.
  44. To tenderize chicken and give it a unique flavour, try basting it with a small of amount of white wine while it cooks.
  45. When stuffing your holiday turkey, place a piece of cheesecloth inside the cavity before the stuffing. When you remove the cloth, the stuffing will come out at one time.
  46. Defrost a chicken by soaking in cold water, this will draw out any blood residues and will leave the breast very white.
  47. Have you ever wondered how restaurants serve very tender, moist chicken breasts all the time? They submerge the breast in buttermilk for 3-4 hours under refrigeration before cooking.
  48. When stuffing a turkey or chicken, try sealing the opening with a small raw potato.
  49. To double the freshness of fish, place it in cold water – if it floats it has recently been caught.

10 Great Money Saving Tips

We all love to save money. The bonus here is that not only will these tips help you cut costs, they are fun to do as well! Enjoy!

10 Great Money Saving Tips:

1. No-stick Baked Goods:

If you stack fresh-baked cookies or brownies on a plate, they can stick together. To prevent this, put a coffee filter or paper doily in between the layers. It will help you having to discard broken pieces of your baked goods.

2. Keep Drains Clean:

Once a month, drop three antacid tablets, followed by a cup of plain vinegar down your drains. Wait a few minutes and run hot water to rinse the drains. The combination of acid and bubbles will dissolve any food or grease stuck in the pipes and prevent potentially costly plumber assistance with plugged drains.

3. Washable Party Decorations:

For glowing wall decorations, use liquid laundry soap to paint designs on the walls. Once it dries, turn out the lights and turn on a black light. The phosphates in the soap will glow, creating a great effect and the wall washes right off when your party is over!

4. Laundry Saver:

If you run out of fabric softener, plut a few drops of hair conditioner on a washcloth and toss it into your dryer with the clothes. Your clothes will come out soft and fresh-smelling.

5. Guaranteed Delivery:

If you are sending a get-well card to someone in the hospital, use that person’s home address as the return address. If the person is discharged before the card is delivered, it will be automatically forwarded to them at home. With the cost of greetings cards – this prevents a waste and allows your intended recipient to enjoy your good wishes.

6. Portable Sewing Kit:

Use an old lipstick tube to create a portable sewing kit. Once the tube is totally cleaned out, put a cotton ball in the bottom and stick needles threaded with various colours into the cotton ball. Then just put the cap on and toss it in your purse.

7. Button Saver:

To keep buttons from falling of your children’s clothing, put a layer of clear nail polish over the threads. It will harden the threads and “glue” them to the button.

8.Fun Punch Ice:

This works well at Halloween – but you can use it anytime! You can make some “handy” ice cubes by filling new, clean, clear rubber gloves with mixture of water and food colouring. Tie off the ends and place the gloves into your freezer. When the water is frozen, peel off the gloves and you are ready to surprise your guests!

9. Bathing Fun:

To make very inexpensive fun bath toys for your children, try making your own soaps. Mix 1-3/4 cups of soap flakes with water and dye it with food colouring. Pour soap mixture into candy molds, let it dry and you have your own customized mini soaps.

10. Save on Show Polish:

Use creamy cleanser with abrasives to clean white shoes. Pus a few dabs on a cotton rag and wipe shoes with it. It works as well as shoe polish!

I hope you enjoyed these tips! Please send me your comments, suggestions and experiences – your input is always welcomed!

If you are anything like me, you continuously wonder if your bathroom is clean enough. I was thinking why that is – after all – I do clean it regularly and thoroughly! Then it dawned on me: It is the one room where people who come to visit have time to look around and check out the details! So if there are dust bunnies in corners or behind the toilet…. You can pretend you don’t care – I just know you do! I have tried just about every product on the market in the effort to have the ultimate clean bathroom – and here are some good tips for you from what I have learned:

Cleaning Fiberglass Showers and Tubs:

Heat white vinegar until it is hot (but not too hot to pour into a spray bottle and work with) Spray it on the shower and tub heavily. Wait for 10-15 minutes and then moisten scrubbing-type posnge with more vinegar and scrub. Rinse well and dry.

Stubborn Spot Remover for Showers:

For shower spots and scum buildup, use a soap=filled steel wool pad on a dry shower. Do not allow water to be involved in this process -= it would cause the steel wool pad to scratch. Follow up with the vinegar process described above and you should not have any stubborn spots left!

Keeping Plastic Showers Clean:

To make shower upkeep simple, apply a coat of car wax. Do not use on the floor of the tub or shower. After showering, use a sueegee to wipe the shower door and walls – if you do that you will not see any problems with mildew

Cleaning Porcelain Tubs:

To clean and polish a porcelain tub and remove stains, make a paste of powdered alum (you can get it in drugstores) and water. Rub well, as if you are using a cleanser. For stains. make a paste of powdered alum and lemon juice; apply and let dry, then moisten with more lemon juice and rub well. Rinse thoroughly. Borax and water also works well on porcelain – make a paste, rub well and rinse clean.

Keeping Tile and Grout Clean:

The way to stay ahead of getting the grout clean is to use a dry typewriter eraser on dry grout to remove any mildew or stain as soon as they appear. For bigger problems, make a paste of baking soda and chlorine bleach and apply to the grout. Let dry and then rinse well. Do this in a well-ventilated area and watch out for carpets and fabrics near by! Even fumes of chlorine bleach can remove colour from towels hanging in the tub area.

Cleaning Soap Scum and Mildew off Plastic Shower Curtains:

Put the shower curtain in washing machine with one cup of white vinegar, 1/2 cup of your laundry detergent and several old, light coloured towels. Fill the washer with warm water nad run through complete wash and rinse cycle. Remove from water and hang on shower rod immediately.

Cleaning Mineral Deposits from the Shower Head:

Fill a plastic sandwich bag with undiluted white vinegar. Tie this around the shower head and leave overnight. In the morning, remove the bag, scrub the head with a brush and you are ready to use your shower again!

Cleaning Chrome Faucets:

Use white vinegar on a cloth or sponge to remove water spots and soap scum. Dry and buff with a soft cloth. Rubbing alcohol is also a great spot remover. Apply, then dry and buff. To shine chrome or any metal fixtrue in a hurry, use a used dryer fabric softerner sheet on a dry fixture.

Removing Hair Spray Residue:

You can use this formula to remove hair spray residue from any surface – vanities, floors, walls, etc. Mix a solution of 1.3 fabric softener and 2/3 water in a spray bottle. Spray on surface to be cleaned and wipe. Not only does this remove the hair spray, it will also act as a dust repellent and shines vanities beautifully!

Removing Bathtub Decals:

Lay a sheet of aluminum foil over the declas and heat with blow dryer on high. Work up the edge of the decal with a straight-edge ( credit cards work well) adn keep applying the heat as you pull. If the decal is stubborn, lay down the foil as necessary and heat well and peel again. To ermove the residue, try petroleum jellu, alcohol or nail polish remover – but test these products on a small area first before applying.

Cleaning Shower Door Tracks:

Plug the drain hole in the door track with a little bit of paper towel made into a ball. Pour in undiluted white vinegar. let this soak for about 30 minutes, unplug the holes and rinse track with a spray bottle of water and run a rag down it. This will flush the accumulated build-up out of the track.

Toilet Tips:

Here is a good one for you – especially if you have a pet who likes to visit for a refreshing drink!

Pour several tablespoon of Tang Breakfast drink in the toilet in the morning before you leave for work. You can also do this before you go to bed. let soak, use your toilet brush to swish under the rim and flush.

To remove hard water rings. shut off the water at the toilt tank and flush. Spray undiluted vinegar around the inside and then sprinkle borax onto the vinegar. Let soak for about 30 minutes and then scrub with a piece of fine drywall sandpaper. If you have an old water ring, you may need to repeat this several times.

One more good idea – you can drop couple of denture cleaning tablets into the toilet and let it sit overnight. Then just brush under the rim with your toilet brush and flush

Hope these tips have been helpful to you and I will appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have!

There are 4 cleaning products you should never be without – and most of them you already have in your home. If you don’t, you can purchase large size containers and they will last for months! You can used them alone or in conjunction with other common household products such as salt or dishwasher liquid to help you handle most of your cleaning challenges. These products are especially good for people with allergies and for everyone who doesn’t want to have chemicals in the home.

Here are the 4 products:

White Vinegar

Baking Soda

Lemon Juice

Club Soda

What You Can Do With Vinegar:

  • Add 1/4 cup of white vinegar to the washing machine during the final rinse to soften clothes and remove lint from dark clothes
  • Add 2-3 tablespoons of white vinegar to hot water along with your regular dish washing liquid to cut grease on dishes and crystal.
  • Apply white vinegar – undiluted to the skin with a cotton ball to deter bugs – they hate the way you taste and the odour will disappear immediately from your skin.
  • Neutralize pet urine odor with diluted white vinegar (25% vinegar and 75% water) sprayed on carpets
  • Clean stainless steel sinks with a paste made from baking soda and vinegar. Don’t let the foaming scare you – that is what makes it work!
  • Make a window cleaner in spray bottle with 1/4 cup of vinegar added to 1 quart of water.
  • Keep drains free flowing with 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of vinegar poured down the drain on monthly basis. After pouring in baking soda and vinegar, cover the drain for 15 minutes (it will foam), Then just flush with cold water.
  • Spray vinegar on underarms of clothes and let soak for 15-30 minutes to deodorize and minimize underarm stains.

What You Can Do With Baking Soda:

  • Keep food disposals fresh and free-flowing by putting the stopper in the disposal and adding 3 inches of warm water and handful of baking soda. Turn on the disposal and let water run out.
  • Remove perspiration stains and odor by applying paste of baking soda and water and letting soak 30 minutes prior to laundering.
  • Mix one gallon of warm water and 1/4 cup of baking soda to soak freshly washed socks in the solution for 30 minutes. Spin out in your washer (d not rinse out the solution), dry and you will have odor-eater socks.
  • Remove crayon from hard surfaces with baking soda on damp rag.
  • To clean grout (any colour), mix 3 cups of baking soda with 1 cup of warm water and scrub grout with a brush. Then just rinse off.
  • To remove burnt food form a casserole, fill dish with hot water, add one tablespoon of baking soda and allow to soak.
  • To clean up pet vomit, sprinkle on a heavy coating of baking soda. let it absorb the moisture and dry, then scoop it up or vacuum it up. The baking soda will neutralize acids and help prevent stains.
  • Remove heel marks from hard floors with a damp cloth and baking soda.
  • Put in the bottom of cat litter boxes to eliminate odor. Put in a thin layer of baking soda and then add the litter. This will work with with clay or clumping litter varieties.

What You Can Do With Lemon Juice

  • Apply to clothes, undiluted to remove fruit based stains. let soak for 30 minutes and then launder.
  • Remove rust from clothes by applying undiluted lemon juice and laying the garment in the sun. It will disappear like magic.
  • Clean brass and copper with lemon juice and salt. Sprinkle salt on a half a lemon and rub metal, then rinse thoroughly. If you don’t have fresh lemon, you can use mix of bottled lemon juice Nada salt.
  • Make a cleaner in a spray bottle with 2 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice , 1/2 teaspoon of liquid dish soap, 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of borax. Shake before using and use to clean any hard surface.
  • Remove stains from hands with lemon juice.
  • Bleach wooden breadboards or cutting boards by applying lemon juice and letting it sit overnight. Wash and rinse in the morning.

What You Can Do With Club Soda:

  • Club Soda is the best emergency spotter there is. Keep it on hand to clean up spills on carpets and clothing. Do it as soon as possible – if you act fast, the spot will not become a stain.
  • Club soda will remove red wine, coffee, tea, pop,Kool-Aid and any other spills you can think of.
  • If you spill on your clothes in the restaurant, ask for a little club soda and use your napkin to blot the stain. You can blot the spot and soak it with club soda thoroughly when you get home to make sure that stain doesn’t appear.

I hope these tips will be helpful to you – and please send in your comments and suggestions, your input is always very much welcomed!

new-years-resolutionI don’t really understand why people do it, but for a lack of better words, I will tack it to tradition. Yes – New Year’s resolutions are definitely a tradition – and maybe it just makes us feel better that we are actually doing something about things we would like to change.

I am reading and hearing a lot about Top 10 New Year’s resolutions and I do have to wonder just how many people actually make – and keep! Hope not 10! Then I thought – let’s take a look and first see what the most popular New Year’s resolutions are and give it a thought to see just how many a person really should make.

I know you are probably wondering if I made some resolutions for 2010 – but I have to admit that I didn’t. As traditional as it is, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I will tell you the reason – but I think that after you finish reading this, you will probably know anyway.

First – let’s take a look at the 10 Most Popular New Year’s resolutions – and I am adding my comments to each one:

1. Spend More Time with Family and Friends

Kind of too bad that this needs to be a New Year’s resolution – you should always spend all the time you can – especially with your family. Personally, I don’t need this one and let me give you a tip: Keep imagining  that you wouldn’t have your family, that they would be gone forever and think what it would feel like and what you would be missing if you couldn’t spend time with them. But – In a way I understand that some people need to make a conscious effort to allocate their time to being with their family and friends – I hope it works for them and I hope it will change into something they don’t have to make a resolution for.

2. Get into Better Physical Shape

Again – nice resolution and it is known fact that you need to be truly motivated and in the right emotional state to really mean it. I didn’t need to make this resolution either – I am motivated and have been for a while now. As you get older, it really, really becomes harder to lose weight and get into better shape and you have to understand that you have a long trek ahead of you. A really long trek – let’s just call it a permanent trek, because it has to be. Once you get this through your head – making it a resolution is useless. My motivation? I am facing a major surgery and my desire to get into better shape comes from understanding that I will heel faster and get back into normal life a whole lot faster if I lose weight and get more fit.

3. Lose Weight

Apparently the most popular New Year’s resolution.  And a good one without an argument! But also one with a comment: It should really read – change the way you eat, drink and live to make healthy eating a permanent way of your life. I don’t have to tell you that going on no-eating, depriving yourself, etc. trips is no way to do it. Personally – I have “discovered” the one that works for me – I have joined Jenny Craig program last year and it really helped me! I have gone off the program couple of time – but guess what? In the process of being on the program, I have learned to control my portions and automatically stay off foods that are definitely no good for me. So the program changed the way I look at food and all I can say is: Thank You Jenny!

4. Quit Smoking

Another pressure filled one! There is a person on the face of this Earth that doesn’t know that smoking is no good for you. But – so are a tons of other things and I say: Try to quit but do it if you want to! Adding this resolution to your list for the New Year is just one more pressure and stress point that you probably don’t need. So think about it and do it WHEN YOU ARE READY!

5. Enjoy Life More

This one has me totally flabbergasted! Can you imagine wanting to enjoy life less? Do we really need to put this one on the list? The way I see it is that it cannot possibly be defined in a more nondescript way. If that mean that you would be walking with a permanent smile on our lips looking happy than I ask “WHY?”Of course you and all of us need to enjoy life more and that means pretty much taking all the New year’s resolutions listed here and living them every day as a matter of standard! So take a quick look back, write down things that made you unhappy and then – don’t do them! (yes I know I am pretty much quoting Dr.Phil again – but it is worth it: If it doesn’t work for you – stop doing it!)

6. Quit Drinking

Definitely, definitely, definitely a good move! If you have a situation in your past where you have – and not just once – been in a state that you don’t recall what you said or did, please think carefully about how excessive drinking can ruin your life. And get some help – don’t do it because it is a new year’s resolution – do it because it will save you!

7. Get Out of Debt

Oh yes – and that will work if you have a job, if you make enough to cover more than your necessary monthly expences, if you are healthy, etc. etc. Definitely a good possible New Year’s resolution – depending on your situation. If you are stretched beyond limits already, perhaps it should read: Don’t get deeper into debt or Do your best to manage debts – with the focus of seeing the light at the end of that financial dark tunnel. Baby steps here are recommended so it doesn’t get worse!

8. Learn Something New

Personally, I really don’t need this one – but maybe you do. Understand one thing – learning something new and then using it is one of the best ever experiences you may have. I greatly admire those 80-90 year old who graduate from universities! And it is for just because they want to keep learning, keep living. Amazing! I think if you make this a New Year’s resolution and than go and learn something new and say: OK, now I have kept my resolution – you are way off the track! Know what I mean?

9. Help Others

Please don’t sit there thinking only about what charity you should contribute to or what group you should join! This thing again should be a way of life! Help you neighbour clear snow of  their driveway, help an senior lady unload her grocery cart into her car, volunteer in your local hospital…..start with small things and understand just good you feel each and every time you help someone. And please – make this a way of life for you – if you at all can, spread the message of helping each other around – that is the right thing to do!

10. Get Organized

If you are not organized then get to it! But understand that you first need to determine what is “organized” for you. What it means. Some people feel organized with piles and piles of files on their desks (I had a lawyer like that once and I was amazed just quickly he could locate information from them!) Others have a spotless desk as a norm – it really is up to your standards so work on those first. Same with your house – some people have surroundings fit to be photographed and featured in a magazine – personally, I like the “Live In”feeling – clean mess I call it. I kind of like things at my fingertips – if you know what I mean. Definitely a choice of preference on this one.

OK – so these are the top 10 New Year’s resolutions with my comments. Do you know why I don’t make my own? I am at the age where I really focus on loving every day. I do have bad days – some with physical, some with emotional pain – just like everyone else. But focusing on the good things and feeding off those work well for sure.

One advice for the New Year:

Enjoy Life with all its ups and downs and if you don’t already know it -

Make it Your Everyday Resolution!
