apple-coleslaw-sl-1025442-lThis is an amazing recipe that will be a welcomed addition to any meal! I love serving it with grilled ribs or pork roast. This homemade coleslaw recipe will give you enough coleslaw to feed a large gathering if you are entertaining – if you need to make it for your family only, cut the recipe in a half or a quarter of the listed quantities. Try it and see if it isn’t the best coleslaw you’ve ever made!

Old Fashioned Homemade Coleslaw:

1/4 cup of prepared mustard

3/4 cup of cider vinegar

1/2 cup of sour cream

1/2 cup of ketchup

1/4 cup of mayonnaise

1 tablespoon of salt

1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

1-1/4 cups of sugar

2 medium heads of cabbage (about 4 lbs.) ,shredded

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 medium green pepper, chopped

1 large carrot, shredded

1 celery rib, finely chopped

6-8 radishes, chopped into small pieces

  • For dressing, in a bowl, combine the mustard, vinegar, sour cream, ketchup, mayonnaise, salt and cayenne pepper, Stir in the sugar.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, onion, green pepper, carrot and celery.
  • Add desired amount of dressing and toss until well coated. Refrigerate until serving and also refrigerate any leftovers.

Hope you like this one – and as always, your comments and suggestions are very welcomed and appreciated!
